Retreat Day in Brief

This teacher-guided silent meditation day offers you a chance to step back from the hustle of daily life and immerse yourself in a slower way of being through mindfulness.

The day will include mindfulness-based meditation, from sitting and lying down practices to gentle movement, weaving in time to rest and engage in mindful habits at your own pace and preference. Silent breaks will be incorporated into the day, where there will be an opportunity to savour your brought-along lunch, walk outside, rest under the warmth of a blanket and other ways of looking after yourself.

As we navigate the retreat together, you'll find opportunities to:

  • Rest and Restore: Immerse in a day of silent contemplation, rejuvenating your mind and body.

  • Slow Down and Renew Focus: Step back from the daily hustle to sharpen your clarity and focus.

  • Deepen Connection and Rejuvenate Practice: Reconnect with yourself and invigorate your meditation practice.

  • Cultivate Self-Kindness: Cultivate a kinder, more accepting relationship with yourself.

Spending time with less stimulation, away from our usual environment, can be both nourishing and sometimes bring up challenges. With gentle guidance, we will explore meeting each moment with curiosity and care.

This retreat encourages pacing ourselves, fostering deep listening and compassionate responses to our own experiences. Practising individually and alongside one another promotes a unique sense of connectedness, offering a rare opportunity to share time in this meaningful way in our fast-paced modern world.

What to expect?

The retreat-style meditation day is guided by an experienced mindfulness teacher while the participants will spend uninterrupted time in silent contemplation.

The retreat will include:

  • periods of both guided and self-directed practice

  • short reflections from the teacher

  • sustained periods of silence to enable participants to connect more fully with their inner experience

  • time to practice mindfulness informally between the formal practice

The airy studio at CourtX has plenty of space to spread around, with mats and chairs provided, and making yourself comfortable with pillows and blankets. The time spent together includes a break and time for a packed lunch that everyone is invited to bring with them.

Who is the retreat for?

This retreat is suitable for individuals with mindfulness experience who have completed a mindfulness course or engage in regular mindfulness-based meditation. It allows you to spend time in sustained silence and explore your mindfulness practice supported by the retreat structure, teacher guidance, and a small community of fellow practitioners.

Meditation can be very nourishing; however, as it requires sustained practice, it also needs some stability of psychological health. If you have recently (within the past year or so) experienced significant trauma or psychiatric illness, or if you are currently experiencing acute emotional distress, it is not recommended to engage in the intensive meditation practice that a silent retreat contains.

Retreat Day in Brief

Embrace the profound stillness of the winter season—transition into the new year with rest and quiet reflection.

Join me on Zoom for a day dedicated to silence and contemplation. You might practice meditation regularly, or maybe your practice has slipped a little. This day-long guided retreat is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your practice from the comfort of your home.

I will guide you through a range of mindfulness meditation practices that will help you pause, restore and reconnect with yourself. Breaks and lunch will be incorporated into the day, and there will be plenty of opportunities for rest.

What to expect?

As we navigate the retreat together, you'll find opportunities to:

  • Rest and Restore: Immerse in a day of silent contemplation, rejuvenating your mind and body.

  • Slow Down and Renew Focus: Step back from the daily hustle to sharpen your clarity and focus.

  • Deeply Self-Caring: Carving out intentional time for your well-being sets the tone for the year ahead.

  • Deepen Connection and Rejuvenate Practice: Reconnect with yourself and invigorate your meditation practice.

  • Increase Self-Kindness: Cultivate a kinder, more accepting relationship with yourself.

Create your space at home where you can comfortably connect on Zoom and engage in guided meditations, including some room for lying down and gentle movement practice.

The space doesn't have to be totally silent, as our surroundings are a natural part of practising meditation. You will be able to adjust the camera and mute the microphone as needed. It is important that the room you join from does not require anyone else to step in so that we can maintain everyone’s privacy during the retreat.

Who is the retreat for?

This retreat is open to individuals with mindfulness experience, having completed an 8-week mindfulness course or engaged in mindfulness-based meditation and would like to spend time in silence, fostering inner resources and reconnecting or deepening meditation practice.

For any questions about the day, please don’t hesitate to contact Elisa at info@southcoastmindfulness.com.
